Neurologist Across India Come Together At NeuroCon 2021 For Making Neuro Surgery safer
The Department of neurosurgery of Max Super Specialty Hospital, Vaishali on Saturday organized a conclave with the theme “Making Neurosurgery safer for patients” wherein neurosurgeons from across India participated to deliver on multiple neurosurgery topics and techniques to make neurosurgeries safer for patients.
Dr. Manish Vaish, Director – Neurosurgery, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Vaishali and organizing chairman, Neuro-con 2021 said, “For the past one and half year, it has been difficult for all medical specialties due to COVID 19. Neurology is the stream of medical science in which treatment is time sensitive and any delay in treatment can result in irreversible damage. We always try to keep innovating new ideas to make neurosurgeries safer for our patients. NeuroCon 2021 was organized to bring the best neurosurgeons under one roof to deliberate on the same. The NeuroCon had 8 sessions in which 24 topics were presented and discussed. Some of the topics covered were minimally invasive spinal surgery, Stroke & COVID era, minimally invasive brain surgery, neuro navigation, and awake craniotomy.”

During his talk Dr. Viash explained how integrating multiple technical modalities can result in a better outcome. He highlighted the neurosurgical cases where he & his team integrated MRI, navigation, microscope, and endoscope for better patient outcomes. Some of the conditions treated through this approach were Glioma & Tuberculoma, pituitary adenoma, Meningioma, etc.
Dr. Deepak Aggarwal, Professor, Neurology, AIIMS, New Delhi spoke about the latest developments in the field of neurosurgery. He explained innovation, which made neurosurgery safer. He also highlighted the importance of portable ventilators invented at AIIMS for patients who need ventilator support throughout the life.
Dr. Ajay Choudhary, Associate Professor, Neurosurgery, RML Hospital, New Delhi spoke about intracerebral hemorrhages. He highlighted the importance of timely neurosurgery in intracerebral hemorrhages to save the lives of patients and decrease complications.
Dr. Y R Yadav Director Super Speciality Hospital Medical College, Jabalpur spoke about the avoidance of complications in spinal surgery. He explained how even a small deviation in spinal surgery can lead to long-term complications. While speaking on preventing spinal surgery complications, he explained the use of the latest technology and equipment with case studies.
