PM Directed To Identify More Quarantine Locations For COVID-19 Patients
In the wake of rising incidents of COVID 19 (Coronavirus) in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed the senior officials from central government to identify sufficient locations for quarantine facilities for coronavirus patients. So far, country has detected at least 34 cases of confirmed positive cases of Coronavirus.
PM advised the immediate action plan for critical care provision in case the infection spreads across the country. He also instructed the officials to plan for early testing and evacuation of Indians from Iran.
In a high-level meeting, Prime Minister reviewed the situation on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and action taken so far by various Ministries on Saturday in which Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan was also present.
Prime Minister was also informed about the availability of sufficient stocks of medicines, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and other consumables for use in India.

He highlighted the need for advance and adequate planning and timely response as critical for managing this infectious disease from a public health perspective.
PM further mentioned that all departments should work in convergence and action shall be initiated for creating awareness in community about the disease and the precautions to be taken.
He exhorted the officers to identify best practices for COVID-19 management from across the world and within the states and ensure their adoption. He said that in view of opinion given by experts, people should be advised to avoid mass gatherings as far as possible and be made aware of Do’s and Don’ts.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan emphasized the need for effective coordination with states for timely response. The request obtained for evacuation of Indians from Iran was highlighted.
Issues related to need for continued vigil at all airports, seaports and land border crossings, community level surveillance as per protocol, and ensuring availability of sufficient beds for isolation was discussed.
